Sweet Tea and Subway Screams

About

Sweet Tea & Subway Screams is a fast-paced, character-driven comedy that follows the Carter family—a well-meaning but wildly unprepared Southern clan—as they uproot their lives and move to New York City in search of opportunity, reinvention, and a vague promise of “something better.” What they find instead is chaos, culture shock, and the slow, hilarious dismantling of everything they thought they understood about life.
The story begins with Ronnie Carter, the overly confident father, announcing the family’s move as if it were a triumphant revelation rather than a poorly researched gamble. His wife Darlene, practical and grounded, immediately senses disaster. Their teenage daughter, Kayla, anticipates total social ruin, while their young son, Beau, focuses on whether his rock collection can make the journey. Meanwhile, Meemaw, the family’s unbothered grandmother, treats the entire situation as entertainment.
